Training Philosophy
Understanding the product is a key factor to ensure that you operate MERCHANT effectively; exploit all possible features and functions in order to maximise the return on your investment and gain competitive benefits.
Effective and adequate training is vital to enable you to gain the appropriate appreciation and, where required, detailed understanding of MERCHANT's operation and capabilities.

MERCHANT Training is structured as follows:

Implementation Training
The courses in this section are the seven key aspects of training that allow a new Merchant site to go-live. The ground they cover is the minimum needed to become familiar with all Merchant's basic jobs. But, as in many areas of education, additional investment at a later date is often even more high yielding. And you may choose to exploit this possibility by sending new students on the introductory courses or by tackling the more advanced level or more function specific training.
Merchant users who will be exploiting some of the more complex Merchant features for example Timber handling functions, will find the need to budget for additional training within the implementation period. This should be discussed with your EDP project leader.
Advanced Training
Successful Merchant users regard a continual policy of review as a part of normal operational duties. "Are we up to the appropriate skills level to get the best return on our software investment?" is a key question in such a review.
EDP training offers two paths to such enhancement. Through acquiring development skills which allow the student to prepare new site specific routines ... often in the sphere of tailored reports and enquiries. And the second strand is in the detailed study of a given function of the Merchant package ... either a part which your site has never used before or a part which perhaps you may not have fully exploited.
The Student is invited to select from the seminars listed to prepare a set which will focus on precise targets where a reward is anticipated. The content of the courses may often review the material from the Implementation level course and then extend it.

New Release Course
The immense number of new features offered in Releases 5/5.1/5.2 of Merchant is much easier and quicker to grasp with a workshop/course to examine the fine detail up close

Commitment
These courses are hard work. All courses have documentation but the student is expected to give the fullest of attention and most will wish to make further notes. The Merchant Manuals are an invaluable reminder of how to use Merchant but only a hands-on course can really give the rapid, broad understanding you will need to have to exploit Merchant to its fullest. Courses will normally commence at 9.15am and complete at 17.15pm.

How to Book Please E-Mail us on Merchant Training, or ring us at Milton Keynes (01908) 249727 and ask for MERCHANT Training.

We like to speak to each prospective delegate to ensure that the courses taken are appropriate to each person's requirements, and also to provide information as to course availability. Needless to say, we are always happy to answer questions.

Our fax number is: (01908) 249798

Confirmation We can accept provisional bookings, but only hold them temporarily. We have a policy of allowing cancellations of confirmed bookings at any time without penalty provided another booking is made at the time of cancellation. This is to allow for unexpected problems which may occur preventing attendance on a particular course. Otherwise our scale of cancellations below applies.

Once a booking is confirmed, a confirmatory letter is sent showing the details for the course. Additionally, course joining instructions are sent direct to each confirmed delegate.

Fees

Courses are charged for at £330 per day for the first student and £275 per day for additional students from the same user company. Half day courses are correspondingly £230 and £175 for additional students. Merchant customers are invited to bring as many staff to these sessions as can usefully benefit from the training. Practically this should mean a group no larger than five. Note however we will not expect to train every operator ..... EDP find most success by concentrating on the core management team of two or three who will then go on to train the staff in their own units. The best implementation results occur when the system manager attends every session.

On-Site Fees Details on application to the Training Department.
Cancellations
  • Not less than one month's notice - 100% allowance of fees.
  • Between two weeks and one month's notice - 50% allowance of fees.
  • No allowance will be made for shorter notice or non-attendance.
Schedule EDP reserves the right to re-schedule any course. In such instances, delegates will be offered the opportunity to re-book on the next available course.
